180: Overcoming Stress Anxiety And Depression By Choosing to live through them with Kristine Ovsepian

Kristine Ovsepian is Brad Miller’s guest on Episode 180 of “The Beyond Adversity Podcast.”

Kristine has a website called Journey to Heal. Through choice, she is all about helping people transform their health and their life by identifying, limiting, and eliminating negative emotions, and to get on with their life of healing and happiness.

In this episode, Kristine shared how she lived a life surrounded by fear, from fear of life, fear of success, fear of failure, and even fear of fear. She shared how she overcome this limiting belief so she can move forward and create a life worthy of love and success.

She talks about how she keeps having a mantra and uttering words of affirmations that would eventually affect her mindset and give her positive energy.

As a mother, all she wanted was to lead a life of example and to be financially free so she can give her children a strong foundation and a good future.

But it seems that she finds herself in dumpster dirt and she faced depression. To overcome this, she managed to get a session with a hypnotherapist and that’s where everything became brighter for her. She literally saw light again.

Kristine proclaims that God is a loving God, and she realizes that, there was such a spiritual aspect connected to hypnotherapy. It’s like the power of the mind.

Kristine made the decision to free herself from a God that was a vengeful God or angry God. In order to heal, she understands that God is a loving God, and is a forgiving God.

Kristine talks to Brad about how she realized that she was so disconnected from her divinity and spirituality, and now she is able to have deep prayer and meditations and to really connect with God.

Her driving force is her children and she states that as a mother, her role is not only to raise them but to also ensure that she becomes an inspiration for them. She can only do this by healing herself and taking care of herself so she can be the best gift for the children.

Beyond that Kristine also mentioned taking practical steps, and the first one is “never giving up.” Then deciding to be educated in an area that she likes the most.

Kristine’s story is proof of how a person can change his/her physical conditions if we truly manifest everything and decide to commit to achieving those manifestations. That, the greatest gift we can offer to our loved ones is the love that we give to ourselves. Being the best authentic versions of ourselves will truly help us lead a life of light and happiness.

Episode 180 of The Beyond Adversity Podcast is a must-listen for any spiritually-minded Christian Entrepreneur looking for an inspirational story of a woman who overcame limiting beliefs and made her way out of fear.

Brad Miller:

We have Christine__________ with us. She is an author

Brad Miller:

and has a website called Journey to heal her.

Brad Miller:

Through choice, she is all about helping people transform

Brad Miller:

their health and their life by identifying and limiting and eliminating

Brad Miller:

negative emotions, and to get on with their life of healing and happiness,

Brad Miller:

and we welcome to Beyond adversity. Christine. Christine, welcome.

Christine:

Thank you, Brad, thank you for having me.

Brad Miller 00: 00:31

It's awesome to have you

Brad Miller 00: 00:31

here on Beyond adversities. And on your web pages

Brad miller:

led me to believe you have just incredible offerings to people and some

Brad miller:

good things to share with people about your life. But I know

Brad miller:

that I have a feeling that things weren't always just clearly

Brad miller:

good for you, and you had your own dark places that you

Brad miller:

are at. And I'm just interested in hearing about your life, a little bit about your background,

Brad miller:

particularly any challenges or adversities that you had to face

Brad miller:

prep patterns, you had to break in order to have a foundation to teach others your story.

Christine:

Yes. So my story begins with growing up with lots of fear, just

Christine:

fear of life, fear of success, fear of failure, fear of fear,

Christine:

fear, fear, surrounded by fear. And that took a toll on my life

Christine:

And of course, with the fear comes, oh, go to school, get an education.

Christine:

And once you get an education, go get the safe job and be at that safe job until you

Christine:

retire or die. And so that's kind of the journey that I took on and I, from my 20s, I

Christine:

tapped into accounting and getting it was just a job. That's all it

Christine:

was. But of course, since from the beginning, it kind of took its own journey. And

Christine 00: 01:51

one because my resume was all filled with accounting positions, it was the easiest

Christine 00: 01:56

thing to find. And so I went from job to job. And it never got better. I was under the

Christine:

impression of okay, if I go into a study for the CPA exam and pass the CPA exam, I’ll

Christine:

you know, be successful, I'll take the steps and become a supervisor, manager, a partner

Christine:

and money will make me happy. And I realized on that path, as I was

Christine:

trying to force that ego path, my soul within was just the whole that the emptiness

Christine:

was just becoming bigger and bigger and bigger until it came to a point where it

Christine:

became physical. And I had a lot of physical obstacles happening in my body and

Christine:

my headspace and arms going numb and eyesight starting to go bad. It was just

Christine:

spiraling out of control. And out of desperation, of course, I was running to my doctor

Christine:

every week. And one time, he just said, if you continue on this path, he wants to ride

Christine 00: 03:01

more than two years because it's becoming physical already. And so that kind of was

Christine:

the wake up call. Because at the time my children were very young, they were

Christine:

just, you know, toddlers, and I knew that if I'm not, I'm gonna

Christine:

have to do it for them. Because there was no other way

Christine 00: 03:19

my children deserved to have their mother.

Christine 00: 03:23

So of course, I turned to prayer, prayer and crying. And really just

Christine:

I was so lost, I had no idea. But the one thing that truly I did not understand

Christine:

What transformed my life was the affirmations that I was using.

Christine:

While I was driving, dropping my children off to daycare, I would cry myself to work.

Christine:

And on the way I would always just repeat this mantra of God, I want to help people

Christine:

I want to love what I do, I want to have my own control over my own schedule

Christine:

instead of someone telling me how much time I can spend in my break how

Christine:

much time I can spend on vacations, how much time it's

Christine:

just it felt suffocating to me at that point. So to have freedom over my schedule, and of course

Christine:

be comfortable doing what I love financially.

Christine:

And I kept repeating that mantra over and over and over and not understanding

Christine:

that I was actually working with the law of attraction and manifestation

Christine:

at the time. Even so much so that the last year that I that I was in the accounting

Christine:

world, one of my co-workers gave me the book The Secret which is the law of

Christine:

attraction but that seem like what is this because it's so simple. It looks like a

Christine:

book for a child and I thought they were actually

Christine:

even making fun of me and oh, this is

Christine:

what you're capable of. This is what you be. And I didn't understand the

Christine:

the meaning behind of course the secret because I wasn't tapped into that

Christine:

spiritual worlds yet. And so I gave it to someone else and then a year later

Christine:

when things really got bad, and it was just unbearable,

Christine 00: 05:04

I couldn't take it anymore Emotionally, I

Christine:

was already so depressed in a sense that I knew that if I spiraled down further,

Christine:

it's scary what I was already thinking. So then, of course, places it sounds

Christine:

absolutely, absolutely. It was just not fun being there at all

Christine:

And so I just started praying and I, my prayers turn into this vivid dream. And in that vivid dream,

Christine:

I remember I was wearing a white coat, I had a golden badge with my name on it.

Christine:

And I looked at myself and I said, I know who I am. I remember

Christine:

who I am. So now the white coat was the representation to me that I'm helping

Christine:

people. I'm healing people, but I knew I was not going to go to medical school

Christine:

and become a doctor or nurse or any of that. I was never interested in that.

Christine:

But then I woke up that morning, and I was still at that time trying to push

Christine:

the CPA exam. And I took my laptop and I

Christine 00: 06:04

remember it so vividly that I just typed in hypnotherapy. I had no idea what that word was. It's not really respected or known in my culture, or in my religious

Christine:

belief system. So but I was so desperate, I was just like, well,

Christine:

if I've been praying, and asking God for guidance, then this must be it because

Christine:

I have no idea what this is. And so then when I hit send, of course, the school popped up.

Christine:

And I didn't realize the school that I went to hypnotherapy,

Christine:

hypnosis motivation Institute had been around for over 40 years,

Christine:

even 12 years ago. And as this,

Christine:

this process just started taking life, and I just followed it. And my first

Christine:

thought was, if I go at first, I didn't even think that oh my god, I might be

Christine:

doing this, I thought this was God's way of go and get yourself out of

Christine:

this dumpster dirt, right? It's when pulling you out. And so I went to the Schools website, I found somebody that had graduated from

Christine:

the school that you know, had reviews and all that stuff. And I made

Christine:

appointment with her and I said, Okay, if I if this helps me,

Christine:

then I'm a believer, then it's gonna change my life. And as I went for two

Christine:

three sessions with with this hypnotherapist, I realized suddenly, all the dark clouds started

Christine:

to part and I was starting to see sun again, I was starting to see metaphorically

Christine:

speaking light again. And within the three months that I went through

Christine:

that process, I ended up suddenly realizing that this is it. And the the, what

Christine:

I was grateful for was that the school was offering a month free like hypnosis,

Christine:

one on one class for free and said, Come and check it out. If you love it, you

Christine 00: 07:57

continue if you don't, no hard feelings, and I was like, This is the greatest gift

Christine:

that I can have. Because no college ever tells you come to our school for a month or semester. And if you don't like it, you can leave

Christine:

So I did. And from the moment that I walked in, Suddenly, I was like, Oh, my goodness, everything

Christine:

that I've been seeking for. Because for me, it was beyond just hypnotherapy,

Christine:

hypnosis. For me, there was such a spiritual aspect connected to that. It's like the power

Christine:

of the mind and the power of, of course, the school was, you know

Christine:

talking about manifestation and the law of attraction and the

Christine:

connection to divinity and all that stuff. And I was like, This is what I've been seeking.

Christine:

This is what I forgot. And I've been disconnected from because you know, when

Christine:

we're children, we're so connected to the Divine to God, and then suddenly we

Christine:

grow up and life takes us on different paths. And many of us in a sense, although

Christine:

disconnection is not possible, but we feel disconnected. You.

Brad miller:

You really were not destined to become a bean counter your whole your

Brad miller:

life. There was, God had a greater purpose in

Brad miller:

mind for you. You did, and you did something

Brad miller:

about it in Christine. You mentioned several things

Brad miller 00: 09:09

here, but let's kind of nail it down just a little bit here. Yeah. What do you think

Brad miller:

were some of the two or three actions that you took? I really like to

Brad miller:

think in terms of practical applications

Brad miller:

people apply to their circumstances, because lots of people

Brad miller:

get in this fuzzy, numb state.

I'm kind of stuck, you know, and so many

Brad miller 00: 09:30

people don't think about it, because you can't. so what were some of the

Brad miller:

things that you did? You mentioned cerebral there, let's just kind of narrow down to

Brad miller:

two or three things that you actions you took.

Brad Miller:

and get you on a new pathway?

Christine:

Well, the first thing was that I never gave up. Giving up is not an option.

Christine:

We continue to search search , search until we find the answers. And the second step

Christine:

was that I actually had to be courageous enough to dive into some thing that I

Christine:

knew nothing about, like being born and raised in a Christian belief system, I was

Christine:

never told hypnosis I was never told subconscious mind, I was never told any of those

Christine:

things. And so it was being courageous enough to take that leap. And to do

Christine:

something that I knew nothing about. All I knew about it was, well, wait a minute,

Christine:

I've done it this way, and I failed. And there has to be another way. And I'm going

Christine:

to try this way, if it works, great. If it doesn't work, then at least I

Christine:

tried. I feel like those were the driving forces that

Christine:

really because I don't like, you know, there's never

Christine:

feedback of failure, there's always feedback. It's never about, you know,

Christine:

a lot of us are afraid of making decisions in a sense.

Christine 00: 10:50

And for me, it was not about

Christine:

am I making the right decision or the wrong decision for me at

Christine:

that point, it was like, I'm just gonna make this decision and see

Christine:

where it takes me, because there was

Christine:

no other way. And that was me trusting in

Christine:

really, and the guidance that I was receiving.

Brad miller:

So you didn't give up. And then you made a decision to

Brad miller:

be educated in an area, which was how to your

Brad miller:

comfort zone. And that was a huge, huge thing for

Brad miller:

for what you did, and I love that you did the

Brad miller:

the physical manifestation of that, which is, you know,

Brad miller:

actually going to school. You know, you have to, in order to have transformation,

Brad miller:

I believe you have the number one you say, don't give up, don't settle for what

Brad miller:

your situation is, then do something about it. There's really a physical

Brad miller:

manifestation. And you had the physical manifestations with your illness

Brad miller:

with your you know, whatever connections there were, your mind and body

Brad miller:

your spirit was in your health. Now you were doing something physical here. And

Brad miller:

that's the action part. And let's start from it. Let's go a little bit deeper.

Brad miller:

Christine, you've mentioned a couple times about the spiritual aspect

Brad miller,:

how you in crew up

Brad miller:

and in a Christian home where some things of the

Brad miller 00: 12:05

inner life forward and some were not. But let's go

Brad miller:

to in your case, how the, you know, we have the actions, the physical manifestations

Brad miller 00:,12:13

but we also transformed from the inside out as well.

Brad miller:

So tell us a bit about your inner life transformation. I'm talking about anything to

Brad miller:

do with the spiritual realm, or meditation. What kind of inner life did you do?

Brad miller:

You've taken the action? Yes. What things did you do in your inner life?

Christine:

Absolutely. First, I made the decision to free myself from a god that was a vengeful

Christine:

god or angry god, I needed to heal, to understand that God is l

Christine:

loving God is forgiving. And because most of my

Christine:

life, I was told, Well, you better be good, or you're gonna be

Christine:

punished, you're gonna go to hell, and this and that, and I was living in a lot

Christine 00: 12:55

of fear. And so to free myself from the fear was to really go

Christine 00: 13:00

into deep prayer and meditation and connect with

Christine:

God. And to really experience and feel that deepness

Christine:

and that connection that loves. So meditation became, and it still is, after all

Christine:

these years, everyday practice for me, I do work to connect

Christine:

to the Divine, I do meditation

Christine:

to mine and I do this process with my clients every day, because most

Christine:

of us have forgotten and it's time to remember again, to reconnect to remember

Brad miller:

who we are. And that then leads to a transformation

Brad miller:

from the inward to the outward, and to gets manifested

Brad miller:

in in, you know, how we sell out like towards others. So let's talk for a minute, let's

Brad miller:

just take take this in terms of it, I believe you got the bag, and then you've

Brad miller:

got your spiritual your inner life. But then the cognitive piece kind of the mind piece

Brad miller:

is how we make this a part of our life. Yes, how we make these practices,

Brad miller:

you're talking about a part of your life. Because before you had the practices,

Brad miller:

whatever they were, you kind of mentioned about your day to day job was

Brad miller:

boring or not so fulfilling to you and lead to physical health issues and some meant to

Brad miller:

depression and so on. There was one state but now you're in a different state, right? In order to maintain

Brad miller:

it, you got to have the mentality to do so like our willpower only lasts so long.

Brad miller:

So tell me about any kinds of ongoing habits or practices or

Brad miller:

exercises that you do and maybe teach to who you

Brad miller:

work with, to help you to sustain and maintain this connection that you have

Christine:

absolutely, affirmations, affirmations are powerful because in our subconscious, the mind does not realize

Christine:

reality from fiction,

Christine:

whatever we give it through repetition is what it believes and

Christine:

therefore, as my state of belief system was, so Negative and toxic, I realized

Christine:

that well, it's time to do the opposite. And of course, it's the determination

Christine:

and the commitment to continue. Instead of saying, Well, I did affirmations

Christine:

one day, and nothing changed. It takes our brain 21 to 30 days to make

Christine:

a permanent shift and change. And for some people, if there's a lot of resistance

Christine:

from the left brain, the ego the logic, then you might need 60 and 90 days

Christine:

of reinforcement, but every day, I made it a point to start to have instead of fearful,

Christine:

toxic conversations with in my headspace to have healthy conversations, and

Christine:

meaning. Anytime my ego mind would put say, Oh, that's not possible. Oh, you can't

Christine:

do that. Oh, it's that it's too hard. Oh, there's fear. Well,

Christine 00: 15:48

what if? What if? What if? What if I would

Christine:

kind of, in a sense, the god side of me would come in and say, it's

Christine:

gonna be okay, we're fine. We're taken care of God has our back. Let's do this.

Christine:

Let's slowly, gently, so much so until 300%, from my ego chatter, no, I'm not.

Christine:

But is it tamed? Well, absolutely. So it's about the taming of the ego

Christine:

that we need to that willpower strengthens

Christine 00: 16:19

when we continually start shifting the story in the conversation

Christine:

that's happening in our heads. Because once that conversation is, is in our

Christine:

heads is happening, what kind of a conversation are we having? Are we having

Christine:

a healthy conversation, and are we having an unhealthy conversation. So that's

Christine:

the key to really address in our headspace, because that at the end of the day is

Christine:

our own responsibility. It's never outside of us. It's from within.

And

Brad miller:

when you have those healthy conversations, and you make that a part of your life,

Brad miller:

your habits, your practices, your daily walk, you're part of

Brad miller:

your medicine, then when those demons start

Brad miller 00: 17:04

to come out, I sometimes call them dragons that come up and want to

Brad miller:

attack you, then you got some weapons, you've got tools to use to beat that

Brad miller:

back are so loaded in an appropriate place, doesn't mean it's not there.

Brad miller:

But be when we're when we're in a bad state, we're in a depressed state and things

Brad miller:

like that those demons can. That's when people talk, and they could spiral into

Brad miller:

some really bad places. So that's awesome. So we've touched on the physical kind of the action that you took,

Brad miller:

and then the airlines of spiritual and that kind of thing. And let's talk

Brad miller:

about the emotional now and how you how you then the emotional part,

Brad miller:

I believe, is where a lot of transformation takes place, because it becomes

Brad miller:

kind of a gut level thing. And oftentimes, that it plays itself out in our relationships,

Brad miller:

if we have negative relationships, that's one thing. We have positive relationships

Brad miller:

that's growing, giving thing. Free source, they would like you to tell me a little

Brad miller:

bit about the role of positive, affirming relationships or, or perhaps of accountability,

Brad miller:

parts of relationships, what role that plays in helping a person to transform.

Christine:

Yes, it absolutely helps.

Christine:

I mean, having the right people around you is very helpful in the transformation

Christine:

process. But at the end of the day, we all have a responsibility

Christine 00: 18:28

to ourselves to create the healing and the transformation from within we cannot

Christine:

depend on anyone else or anything else to do that for us, not a spouse, not a child.

Christine:

I mean, for me, my greatest driving force was my two little kids, because

Christine:

I was thinking, well, if I raise them the way, my mindset is, then I'm going to have another

Christine 00:18;51

generation of children in this world suffering again, struggled, again, lost again,

Christine:

disconnected from the Divine again, and I'm not going to have that and so my

Christine:

kids kind of became that the greatest positive is reinforcement for me to say, and

Christine:

me helping myself healing myself, I'm going to help them. And a lot of times as a

Christine:

mother or women, we tend to sacrifice ourselves for our loved ones, forgetting that

Christine:

the greatest gift that we can give everyone including ourselves is to take care of

Christine:

ourselves to be show kindness and love to ourselves and to heal ourselves from

Christine:

within, so that we can truly be that authentic person instead of being angry

Christine:

instead of being resentful instead of not liking our life and just taking the day by

Christine:

day and forcing the process until we die. It's to me it's living heaven on earth in

Christine 00: 19:48

the physical body. And that was my one of my prayers that God helped me live heaven

Christine:

on earth in the physical body so that I don't you know, because suffering and struggle is doesn't have to be

Christine:

an Every day thing so my children were my driving force. And of course,

Christine:

the emotional aspect of it, the more that my emotions healed all

Christine:

those physical obstacles that I was facing even my right arm just having reversed

Christine:

itself, because once the emotional part of it starts to heal, your body

Christine:

knows how to heal itself. It's always the emotional that breaks the body down.

Wow,

Brad miller:

that's awesome. So you really, really in a real way, you give a loving,

Brad miller:

caring gift to your children. And now you love to give a loving,

Brad miller 00: 20:32

caring gift to the world through

Brad miller 00: 20:35

your website journey to heal and through your book living through choice.

Brad miller:

And I know in that process, you work with a lot of folks and are helpful to them.

Brad miller:

Or what motivated you to be helpful to other people by starting this

Brad miller:

practice and by writing, writing, and coaching and so on and the courses that

Brad miller:

you offer. In that process. Just little bit about maybe someone that you've worked with, you've

Brad miller:

seen some transformation.

Christine:

Yes. So the greatest, I guess drive became from the

Christine:

fact that I knew what was happening inside of me

Christine:

And I was like, if I can help myself. And if these tools have helped me, I have to

Christine:

share this with as many people that as, as I possibly can. And of course, the

Christine:

other part of that was from childhood, I just love talking to people and people

Christine:

always were drawn to me, kids, adults would always come to me and recognize that of all stun me

Christine:

to help others just to support others to be a good listener to have guidance

Christine:

for them. And now that I had these tangible tools to work with, from hypnotherapy,

Christine:

to, you know, NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming, to EFT Emotional Freedom

Christine:

Technique to coaching, all these tools have had him helped transform. And,

Christine:

of course, the beginning I was an old transformed, I still am not, I mean, to me, it's

Christine:

like lifetime of growth and expansion. And we're still on the journey, that journey

Christine:

doesn't end with one or two, you know, spiritual things that we do. It's, it's an everyday

Christine:

practice of us, just like we feed our bodies, just like we take showers, we

Christine:

need to feed them and nurture their soul as well. And so that became my greatest driving

Christine 00: 22:31

force. And I understood that in honestly helping others heal, I also helped myself,

Christine:

and so it's a win win situation. And that's really been the journey in the past 12 or

Christine:

so years of my life with my clients that every client that I've helped, they've

Christine:

helped me because there's been so many instances where clients would share their

Christine:

experiences, positive ones and negative ones. And I would take mental notes of, Oh,

Christine:

that would be a great way to, you know, raise my kids or do these things, and it

Christine:

was wonderful. And then oh, I shouldn't be doing that. And I should not say that and

Christine:

all of that. So it's as I helped them heal, they've helped me heal. It's giving and

Brad Miller 00: 23:15

receiving, you're on a journey together. And you

Brad Miller:

know, yes, coach, as a coach of a team or music or whatever, doesn't you know,

Brad Miller:

is not only the coach only they are a part of the part of the process here

Brad Miller:

and they enjoy it, as well. So tell us about a success story or someone or some

Brad miller:

situation you've worked with where you've been a part of some some

Brad miller:

transformation?

Oh, goodness, there's 1000s of them. Maybe

Christine:

something from recent? Let me see. Because I keep my clients information

Christine:

and experiences so confidential. I want

Christine:

to make sure I'm respectful so that when somebody listens to this doesn't say, oh,

Christine:

wait a minute, she's sharing my experience with the world.

So I'll share what Yes,

00:24:08

or no names of course, but

yes, obviously. So, um, of course, recently, one of my

Christine:

clients that came in she had abruptly lost a loved one. And she was struggling

Christine:

with the connection and feeling like where is my loved one where where's that person?

Christine:

Or do they exist? Is there is there a life after life and she was in a very deep,

Christine:

dark space when she herself was, I mean, tremendously fearful of death and

Christine 00: 24:34

dying and she was like, well, one minute my loved one was here and the next minute

Christine:

they're taken, so is this what what is this about? And of course, I not only through

Christine:

hypnotherapy helped my clients through depression and fears of releasing and all

Christine:

of that stuff. It's it's about really being there for my clients to help them to understand

Christine:

that aspect to that our loved ones don't really ever leave us they're just vibrating on

Christine 00: 24:59

a different From a vibrational level and so this client of mine while the first session

Christine:

she came in in tears, and she couldn't just control her emotions because you're of do

Christine 00: 25:11

we get lost what happens to our soul when we're, you know, no longer physically here.

Christine:

Through my coaching of course through hypnotherapy, I was able to help her

Christine:

and it was the most beautiful experience that even in hypnosis,

Christine:

she was able to, for the first time after the loss, see her loved one in her vision,

Christine:

and her loved one came to her and said, I'm perfectly okay, I'm perfectly safe.

Christine:
